Personal Historian

“It’s the greatest legacy you could ever leave your children or your loved ones: the history of how you felt.”
—Simon Van Booy, British Author

What do you want people to know about you?

A personal history has the power to share your values, celebrate your achievements, and inspire future generations.  Now is the time to unleash that power.

It can take whatever form you want.  If family dinners are a cornerstone of your life, a personal history can be a recipe book filled with stories about each member of the family and his or her favorite food.  It can be a book of essays about family vacations.  It can be a chronicle of how you built your business or a video testimonial by family and friends, or a memoir.

When I wrote Our Bums:  The Brooklyn Dodgers in History, Memory and Popular Culture, I had the privilege of documenting stories of Brooklynites who rooted for the Dodgers at Ebbets Field.  Within minutes, we uncovered memories that triggered tears, laughter, and catharsis.  Those emotionally powerful experiences led me to wonder about starting a business dedicated to preserving memories. Consequently, Legacies & Lives™ was born.

With more than 20 years of journalism experience in print and television, I know the elements of crafting stories that are compelling, informative, and entertaining.  Whether your project is a memoir, corporate history, or video testimonial by family and friends, I will bring authorship, unparalleled research, and empathy to create the story that needs to be told.  Your story.

I will work with you to determine the fee structure based on your goals; each client is different, so there is no universal fee.  Compiling personal stories may seem overwhelming, at first.  I will take that journey with you, bringing the value of writing and interviewing skills honed by more than 20 years in print and television journalism.  It will be a collaborative endeavor that we will undertake together.  Your stories deserve to be told.  Let me help you tell them.
